Bad Beat jackpots

What is a bad beat jackpot? This is a (usually progressive) jackpot that can be won when one player with a very high hand gets beaten by another player with an even higher hand.

Most of these jackpots are progressive, which means they get higher and higher until it hits. Usually you have to play at certain tables that are linked to the bad beat jackpot. A part from the rake goes to this jackpot and sometimes the rake is a bit higher on this tables then on others.

Every poker room has different terms what a bad beat is. For instance four 8′s or higher have to be beaten or sometimes a full house with jacks and aces. Also some rooms state that both players must use both there whole cards (the cards they have been dealt) or else it doesn’t count.

And also the payout rate of these jackpots differ a lot. But most of the time the winning players receives the biggest part, the loser get a huge part and also all other players at that table receive a part of the jackpot. And all rooms leave a part of the jackpot for the next one.

Below you will find some nice videos where bad beats are played and jackpots are won.
